Bio

Anthony Roberts is a constructive theologian whose research lies at the intersections of theological anthropology, human identity, and Christian theology. He is in the process of completing his Doctor of Philosophy dissertation—entitled “No Respecter of Persons: A Constructive Black Theology of Otherness”—at the University of Denver and the Iliff School of Theology. Roberts teaches courses in systematic theology, constructive theology, historical theology, theological ethics, African American studies, and biblical studies. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Iliff School of Theology and a guest lecturer of theology at the Issachar Center for Urban Leadership.

Roberts serves the broader academic community in several capacities. He is the past student director for the Rocky Mountain-Great Plains region of the American Academy of Religion (2016-2018), past diversity committee chairperson for the Society of Pentecostal Studies (2017-2021), and past book review editor for Pneuma: The Journal of the Society for Pentecostal Studies (2017-2023).

In addition to his work in the academy, Roberts is an ordained bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland) in the Florida-Cocoa region of the denomination. Currently, he serves as the pastor of a historic Church of God congregation in Bartow, Florida.
