A Central Florida native, Cassandra Lopez joined the faculty of SEU in 2017. Prior to coming to SEU, she
taught at the high school level for several years, and she holds Florida Professional Teaching
Certifications in Social Science 6-12 and Spanish K-12. She serves as the Director of Graduate Writing
Support at SEU and enjoys partnering with students to improve their academic writing skills.
Dr. Lopez has been a frequent presenter at educational conferences on topics including teacher
burnout, motivation, systems thinking in the Christian school environment, and academic writing. She is
passionate about Christian schools and volunteers as a professional development consultant at a local
Christian school. As part of that work, she created and teaches the Philosophy of Christian Education
seminar required for new teachers as part of the school’s accreditation criteria.
Her dissertation research focused on burnout in teachers working in Christian schools. Her current
research interests include burnout, stress, wellbeing, coping, and spirituality in teachers working in
Christian schools.
She teaches Orientation and Introduction in the College of Education’s doctoral programs and APA &
Graduate Writing for the Jannetides College of Business, Communication, and Leadership’s doctoral
programs in leadership.
