Bio

Dr. Melissa Cain Travis serves as Assistant Professor of Christian Apologetics at Houston Baptist University, where she has taught since 2013. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses, including Philosophy of Religion, Apologetics Frameworks, Science and Faith, and Introduction to Philosophy.

Her academic work focuses on the relationship between science, philosophy, and theology, with a particular interest in how scientific discovery illuminates the Christian worldview. She is the author of Science and the Mind of the Maker: What the Conversation Between Faith and Science Reveals About God and the Young Defenders Apologetics Storybook Series. Her scholarship also includes chapters in The Story of the Cosmos and American Religious History: Belief and Society Through Time.

Dr. Travis is a contributing writer for the Christian Research Journal and teaches at Summit Ministries’ Summer Student Conferences in Colorado. Before entering academia, she worked in biotechnology as a Research Associate and Genotyping Specialist.
