Bio

Dr. Torbjörn Aronson is a Swedish scholar, theologian, and educator with more than 30 years of academic and leadership experience. He serves as Rector of the Scandinavian School of Theology and Professor-at-Large in Church History at Southeastern University in Florida. He holds doctorates in both Church History (Th.D., Uppsala University) and Political Science (Ph.D., Lund University), and has been twice recognized as fully qualified for professorships at Uppsala University.

Born in 1963 in southern Sweden, Dr. Aronson was shaped by the Pentecostal movement and charismatic renewal. He earned his B.A. from Lund University in 1985 and completed his Ph.D. in Political Science in 1990, producing the influential dissertation Conservatism and Democracy on 20th-century Swedish political thought. Turning his focus to theology, he earned a B.Th. and later a Th.D. from Uppsala University, where his research on The Young Manfred Björkquist examined Christianity’s engagement with culture and society.

Dr. Aronson has published widely on Swedish church and revival history, including High Churchmanship and Church Politics (2014), Christian Schools in Sweden Through a Thousand Years (2016), and Maranata! Revival and Social Change in Sweden (2021). His scholarship has appeared in journals such as Pentecost Studies and Studies in Puritanism and Piety. He has also contributed to Christian higher education through his leadership at Livets Ord Theological Seminary. Dr. Aronson lives in Bunkeflostrand with his wife Lena and their daughter.
