BS in Psychology, Southeastern University
Valerie Reeder was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there until she came to Florida in 1993 to attend Southeastern University. It was while in Florida she met her husband, Mark. They have three grown children, two which have graduated from SEU, one grandchild, and have pastored a church in Lakeland for 20 years.
Mrs. Reeder attended Southeastern University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Upon graduation from SEU, she taught a self-contained Emotional/Behavioral Disability unit for one year prior to starting a family. After discovering her interest in teaching and while having a family, she pursued her teaching certification in K-6 Elementary Education through the competency-based certification program Educator’s Preparation Institute at Polk State College.
During her children’s school-age years, she chose to stay home and successfully home educate all three of her children. After helping each of them complete their education to the point of beginning the dual enrollment program at PSC, she returned to the workforce and was employed at Pathways School of Excellence. She recently passed and received the Exceptional Student Education K-12 certification. Currently she is working towards her Masters of Education in Literacy Education.
Valerie enjoys teaching students with exceptional educational needs at Pathways School of Excellence. Her passion is to help them grow and progress in all areas: academically, spiritually, emotionally and behaviorally. It is her desire to enable students to become independent in all areas of life.
