Annabelle Gardiner, a member of the Spiritus faculty piano trio, teaches violin, string techniques, chamber music, chamber orchestra, and music theory at Southeastern University.
While earning her degrees at Eastman School of Music, she studied violin with Zvi Zeitlin and Oleh Krysa, and chamber music with members of the Cleveland Quartet.
Professor Gardiner has been performing with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006 and was appointed as Assistant Concertmaster in August 2010. In September of 2017, she began her post as Associate Concertmaster.
She is a former member of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. A regular substitute violinist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, she has worked with internationally renowned conductors such as James DePreist, Sir Neville Marriner, Leonard Slatkin, and John Williams. Abroad, Professor Gardiner has performed with her husband, Ronald Gardiner, in the Philippines, Malaysia, Switzerland, Germany, and China.
As a chamber musician, Professor Gardiner performs with the Kozmik String Quartet and the Bella Musica Ensemble. In addition to her orchestral career, she has extensive performing experience ranging from Broadway musicals and pop/rock concerts to 20th century music. She has appeared in concerts with orchestral backup for the likes of Idina Menzel, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Carrie Underwood, and Rascal Flatts. She has also been a member of several recording projects for Busch Gardens, Disney, and Hal Leonard Music Publishers.
Professor Gardiner also performs as Associate Concertmaster with Opera Tampa, Concertmaster of the Bach Festival of Central Florida, and as a Disney musician. At Disney, she performs with the Candlelight Orchestra at Epcot, and at Hollywood Studios, she was a member of the orchestra for the Music of “Pixar Live! A Symphony of Characters.”
During the summers, Professor Gardiner teaches and performs at the Masterworks Festival, where she directs the String Intensive Studies Program.
